I think politics and back door techniques play a major role in digg.com rather than the merit of news articles. Many of friends (and me too) used to wonder why when articles, however good they are, are submitted by us never get any diggs. (hardly 5 or 6) but whereas articles apparently not that good had 100-rds of diggs.
That is when we realized that digg is all about socializing. That is, form a circle of friends and commit to each other to digg all articles published by the community! This is definetely not a good way to choose good articles!
And then there is a backdoor way. Create dummy user-ids and digg your own submissions.
So, writers and webmasters, don't get disappointed when your articles are not digged. You simply have not realized yet that DIGG is doomed!
