Dell is all set to come out with a MP3 player (ipod rival) to play a role in entertainment market. The device will be packaged with an online download similar to Apple iTunes. This phone will be launched by as early as September 2008. The device is unnamed yet.
Thos strategy is adopted to garner a share in entertainment market, as Dell's desktop sales declined considerably over the past 2 years, as customers are more interested in laptops.
Executives at the Dell acknowledge that the music market is tough, however, and according to the report have still not decided whether to press ahead with the release. According to NPD, the research company, Apple has a 71 per cent share of the market in the US, with its nearest competitor being SanDisk, which has 11 per cent
